Our exclusive database offers a detailed insight into the largest and most important administrators or administrations of estates, castles, manors and business enterprises in the private ownership of the German nobility. These are mainly

Property administrations:

  • Palace administration, castle administration,
  • Estate administration (forest, farmland and associated buildings),
  • forestry administration (in the case of large forest estates),

Other property management:

  • Residential and commercial buildings, esp. for rent,
  • Other real estate and project development,

Investment management,

Asset management.

In the past, the administrations of the assets of princes in particular were called pension or court chambers, and those of the associated agricultural holdings were often called chamber estates. These administrations were intended to ensure the private financing of the sovereign. The state administrations were called (State) Domains.

At the same time, our Excel database provides an exciting insight into the world of the German aristocracy. It is true that the privileges of the German nobility have been abolished since the end of World War I in Germany, unlike, for example, in some neighboring European countries (esp. Great Britain & Sweden), but the "former" German nobles are allowed to continue using their old titles as part of their names. "Prince first name of and to" became a "first name prince of and to".

The aristocratic families, some of which are many centuries old, continue to own numerous palaces, castles and mansions. In addition, huge forest areas and significant land holdings. Especially the last generations have significantly upgraded to secure the maintenance. To increase rentability in the management of forests and agricultural land, some of the latest economic and scientific methods are used and several families joined forces in the management and administration of large forest areas, for example. Many families also do non-profit work, for example as part of foundations. They open their castles and art collections to visitors, organize events and run catering. Some of them own important wineries and breweries. The assets are also invested in capital investments, Real estate for subletting or interesting company investments. Family representatives can often be found in very influential positions in business, associations, but also renowned law firms and banks, where the noble name still makes an impression.
